PIÑA NAPA VALLEY: Our Vineyards

Buckeye Vineyard:
In 1996 we bought a 5.91-acre property on top of Howell Mountain which we now call “Buckeye.” With a Southwest exposure, it is planted to 100% Cabernet Sauvignon in 5x8 and 4x4 spacing stretching across the different contours of the vineyard. The vineyard extends across a partially terraced hillside and a protected natural bowl and the slopes vary, going up to 18% in some places. This vineyard is almost within sight of a ranch homesteaded by our great-grandfather Charles Glos in the 1880s. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, with owl houses and raptor perches. Cover crops include rose clover, crimson clover and Blando brome. There is quite a diversity of soils within the vineyard, from Aiken loam to Boomer Forward Felta Complex. Our first release from Buckeye was the 2000 vintage.

D’Adamo Vineyard:
In 1982 we leased and planted the D’Adamo property on the foothills at the base of Atlas Peak, Southeast of Napa. With the vineyard planted across the different contours of the foothills there are varying exposures from South to southwest, it is planted to 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, and you can see houses for owls and raptors from its position above the Silverado Trail. The vineyard is planted with a soil building cover crop of Bell Beans, Vetch and Barley. Our first release from D’Adamo was the 2004 vintage.

Firehouse Vineyard:
In 1960 our parents bought the 30 acre property on the hillside in the mountains east of Rutherford, which we now call “Firehouse.” With four different plots stretching across the different contours of the vineyard there are varying exposures from West to southwest , it is planted to 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the plots is terraced and the other three conform to the natural hillside. The property is adjacent to what was our Grandparents Property. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, with owl houses and raptor perches. Cover crops include rose clover, crimson clover and Blando brome.. Our first release from Rutherford was the 2004 vintage.

Ames Vineyard:
In 2000 we leased and planted the Ames property on the hillside in the mountains Northeast of Oakville. Exposure is southwest, it is planted to 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, and you can see houses for owls, Bluebirds, wrens and raptors perches when you pass by on the Silverado Trail. Our first release from Oakville was the 2006 vintage.

Wolff Vineyard:
Piña Vineyard Management planted the Wolff Vineyard in 2002 and 2003 and continues to farm the property. The Wolff Vineyard is located on the end of State Lane on the west side of the Lincoln Knoll in the heart of the Yountville appellation. The 100% Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard has western exposure and is sustainably farmed. Our first release of the Yountville Wolff Vineyard was the 2005 vintage.
